Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Sticks to you like glue…. but dehydrating.

51mg0wqc-tl__sy355_

I adore watching YouTube videos of makeup collections, hauls and favourite makeup products. So when I watched a YouTube video of a woman, around my age, say this was the best foundation she had found for oily skin, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase it, as my foundation tends to slide off around my nose. I now wished I hadn’t bothered.

Firstly, even though I bought the lightest shade available, it was still to dark for me, and I mean way to dark. Though my skin is fairly pale anyway, I would at least have thought I could have blended it out on my neck, but not even that would have been wearable.

Although I admit my skin is a combination of a oily T-zone, dry forehead and normal for the rest, this foundation didn’t even appeal to me even on my oily T-zone. It was extremely drying. It made my skin feel like it was being stretched and was having all the moisture taken away. This foundation became so uncomfortable after about 20 minutes I had to remove it, I couldn’t even try to wear it for a day at home for a complete review, it was too uncomfortable.

The one and only thing I could say about this foundation is that it sticks. When I tried to remove it with my usual makeup wipes I had to literally scrub my face with them. Usually gently circular motions and wiping across would get my foundation off. But this was as if someone had mixed it with glue. So I would say if you have extremely oily skin all over, and want a foundation that will last from when you do your makeup in the morning til after you come home at 3am from a night out, then this could be for you. Warning: Not for pale faces. 🙂

Makeup Revolution Amazing Volume

An Amazing Mascara if you Can Wait.

Mascara-3-edit.jpg

This mascara reminds me of the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express 100% Black mascara.

The one thing I would have to say that I don’t like about this product is that when I first bought it the consistency was wet and wouldn’t add volume my lashes, but after having it for a few months and opening it a couple of times,  it has thickened and is great for that glamorous volume that we crave so dearly. It reminds me of the Maybelline Colossal due to the curve of the lashes it creates and how both spread your lashes evenly, also the shape of the wand, which while both are a very similar size the M.R Amazing Volume has a more oval brush than the Maybelline which is more of a pointed shape.

The packaging for this mascara is a simple black plastic, with makeup Revolutions signature rose gold writing. It is simple yet appealing.

This is a great mascara to have for everyday, going to work, popping off to the shops because you have run out of milk or just walking the dog. It is also good for those on a budget or still at school and have a bit of pocket money left for their monthly makeup purchases.

I wouldn’t say the Makeup Revolution Amazing Volume Mascara is particularly good for its staying power, but as long as you don’t rub your eyes it will stay all day.

This product costs – £2 (Superdrug.)

Maybelline Colossal Mascara 100% Black

Evenly Separated Volume Lashes.

I bought this mascara wanting my lashes to look longer and have more volume and trust me when I say that is what this product delivers.

This mascara claims to have colossal volume and no clumps. I would agree with the volume, however after using this mascara for a while clumps do develop in the formula, which is a shame because I really do like this mascara.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting bolder lashes that have volume to help frame eyes.

I don’t use this everyday as I have cheaper mascaras for work and just popping along to the shop, but it is great for when I go to town with friends or for evenings out. Also the price is too bad either.

Aussie 5 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner

Makes your hair so soft it’s scary!

Aussie is a pretty well known brand and for good reason.

I tried this product simply because my hair needed a little love. I had heard about Aussie from a friend and decided to give it a go and I’m so glad I did. 🙂

You use it as you would with a conditioner, shampoo first then apply to your hair and leave it for approx. 3 minute’s. Then rinse thoroughly and dry as you normally would.

After you use this your hair will be super soft and I have to say, this is one of my favourite hair products.

This comes in a few versions of this type.

Colour. (For coloured hair.)

Reconstuctor (For non-coloured hair.)

Take the heat. (To aid in protecting your hair against the heat of styling.)

Frizz Remedy. (To combat that troublesome frizz that we get from time to time.)

Miracle Moisture. (For repleshing your hair when its crying out for attention.)

Shine. (Which speaks for itself. Adds gloss to each strand.)

Only the Reconstructor and the Colour come in sachet but I would still recommend you try a sachet first just in case you decide you don’t like it before buying a bottle, these give you 1-2 uses depending on the length of your hair.

From Superdrug: Reconstructed (Non-coloured hair) Sachet – £1.09

Colour Sachet 20ml – 99p

Bottles 250ml – £4.99 (Or 2 for £7 at Superdrug.)

Revlon – Lip Butter – Candy Apple

Lovely Long Lasting Lip Butter!

I have never tried Revlon products before and wanted to give them a go. I chose this product after hearing it a few times by other reviewers. At the time I bought it I was into red lip colours, so this was perfect.

This product cost – Superdrug – £7.99

At first I wasn’t sure it would be any good, but I was wrong. This is an amazing lip product. It glides on smoothly, doesn’t make your lips look dry and adds a burst of colour which can be applied in a thin layer, for a slight tint of colour, or blotted and applied again for a bolder colour that lasts for hours.

As this product is so silky I thought the colour would come off within the first hour of wearing it. Yet again, I was wrong. I wore this to town to meet a couple of my friends, we had lunch then sat through a 2 hour movie at the cinema, I was very surprised to see so much colour remaining! I will admit that some of the colour had rubbed off, however considering how much was left I would say that this is a great little product to have in your makeup bag.

The packaging looks pretty and stylish, however due to how thin the bottom piece is it can be slightly fiddly getting the lid off at times. Also for £7.99 you don’t get that much product in my opinion.

Overall, if you are willing to spend a few more pound it’s defiantly worth buying it.

Lush – Bublegum Lip Scrub

Leaving Lips ‘Lush’ously Soft!

When winter began my lips became dry and cracked and I knew they just needed a little love. So I went on a search mission to find something to help. I dropped by Lush to restock on my favourite Lush bath products and saw this as I went to pay. They had other flavours but this one caught my eye (and nose) so I bought this one.

I have been using this for a couple of months now and I have to say its been amazing.

The product is in a small glass jar with a black plastic lid and the product is filled to the top, so you don’t feel like you are paying for air. The scrub includes caster sugar, to scrub away dead skin and Organic Jojoba oil to help moisturise you lips.

This doesn’t feel oily on you lips and after a week or two you can see that it does help.

To use this product simply take out a small amount from the jar (and I do mean small, this stuff travels far) and rub on your lips. I prefer to use small circular motions to make sure I work the product in. Then simply wash away with water. The smell and taste of this is candy floss and is super tasty! 🙂 This product is sweet so if you have a sweet tooth this is for you.

Once you have used this you can apply a lip balm or a drop of moisturiser to keep your lips hydrated and smooth.

You can buy this in your local Lush shop or from their website: https://www.lush.co.uk/products/bubblegum

This product costs – 25g – £5.50  Which may seem a lot but it lasts for a long time. I have had mine for aprox. two months and use it almost every day and have only just hit the bottom, though I still have quite a bit around the sides of the jar.

If you suffer from dry, cracked lips then this could be your saviour. I would recommend trying this at least once.

And don’t forget, just like all Lush products it’s against animal cruelty, suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is handmade.

Collection – No Clumps Mascara

A Mascara Made For Everyone’s Makeup Bag!

After getting fed up of my original mascara clumping so often, I decided to try out a different one and since this one was recommended to me by a friend, I decided to give it a go. This one is staying for the visible future!

Usually you have to compromise when it comes to mascara, it’s either volume with clumps, or no volume without clumps. Well I can assure you that this will leave you clump less with a kick of volume!

This mascara leaves you with gorgeous lashes that will help frame those pretty eyes. It is suitable for daytime wear, or you can put a couple of layers on for that glamorous night out look.

This mascara is sold in Superdrug: 8ml – £2.99. (Currently (4/1/2014) On Offer For £2.50)

Sold in the colours ‘Black’ and ‘Ultra Black’.

This mascara goes above and beyond what the price tells you. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mascara to try.

The packaging is fairly simple, but I always say that’s how you know the money you spend on it has gone to making the product not a pretty packaging.

The wand is slim and the bristles on it are packed close together to ensure your lashes are separated and to make sure they are evenly distributed around your eyes.

Beauty UK – Compact Face Powder

Pretty Perfect!
I have been using this product for quite a while now and have gone through many of them in that time. No matter how many face powders I try I always come back to use this one before the others have even hit the pan. It doesn’t make you look cakey and defiantly doesn’t look orange, as I have come across some that do.
The packaging is made from a sleek, sturdy black plastic. There is a mirror covering the inside of the lid and a powder puff in its own compartment under the powder. This makes this product perfect for touch ups on the go and would make a great addition to anyone’s makeup bag.
I would recommend that if you use the powder puff that you have spares or alternately wash them as they do get dirty.
You can buy this product from Superdrug for – 9g – £3.99 (Currently 2/1/2015) on offer for £2.99)
I would also recommend that you go into a shop to buy this rather than from the Superdrug website, as the shades of the powder in the pictures don’t match the actual thing.
I find that this powder goes perfectly with Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain.
My Rating: 10/10.

Foundation Fabulous!

I had heard a lot about this foundation, some good, some bad. I wasn’t 100% sure this was for me, as this is not a matt foundation which is what I usually go for. However I decided to give it a go and bought the lightest shade available Superdrug (Light Porcelain) of this foundation just to try it out. I tried it when I got home and I wasn’t sure it was for me, it seemed somewhat oily and I wasn’t a big fan of that. However the next day I used to go out for the day to test it out properly and I have to say I was more impressed with it then. I think it seemed oily because I’m so used to matt foundations.

Many people complain about the ‘glitter’ in it, and I can kind of see why. I could just about see it in the bottle and when I put it on and looked closely in the mirror while in sunlight, I could see it quite clearly. Though it probably isn’t anything to complain about, you can only see the individual flecks if you are really close, though I would prefer the foundation without them.

The coverage for this foundation is medium and I would agree. It covers enough to give you an even skin tone, however if you have strong problematic areas, such as very harsh dark circles or sensitive/red skin, it may be an idea to also invest in a concealer.

I was mostly worried about two things, the first being that it would look cakey. But it doesn’t, it looks and feels like there’s nothing there. The second thing was that because I have pale skin I can never seem to find a foundation that matches me, however this one did and it has been residing in my makeup bag ever since and I will probably be buying another bottle for this one runs out.

The bottles are 30ml each and that may not seem like much but they do go a long way.

This foundation is sold in Superdrug for – 30ml – £8.99  (Currently (2/1/2014) On offer for £5.99)

Feelunique.com – 30ml – £7.99

This foundation had SPF 15 in the formula so its perfect for summer, especially as its so lights on the face.

The bottle is made of glass and feels sleek in it’s design, though I’m no a big fan of the bright orange lid.

I would defiantly recommend that you try this foundation at least once.
